Small & complex parts
Complicated, often minute parts require special skill. We have produced intricate components that other molders thought unachievable.
Small parts are not scaled-down big parts
Below a certain size the rules change. Flow paths get short and fast, cooling is nearly instantaneous, gate location stops being a preference and becomes the whole design, and a feature measured in thousandths cannot be inspected the way a wall thickness can. A shop that is good at 6-ounce parts is not automatically good at .2-gram parts.
With our emphasis on accuracy, the result is consistent precision molded plastic parts weighing a fraction of a gram - and consistent is the operative word. Holding a dimension on a first article is one thing. Holding it across an automatic run is the part that requires the tool to be right.
That is the 454 Life Sciences DNA mixing tee. The previous molder had failed trying to reduce the flow channel from .013 to .010 inches. Our solution was a precisely guided steel core pin that produced a smooth channel with no flash or burrs in the cross section.
Where these parts end up
Our small components are found in leading edge technology - medical devices, environmental products and telecommunications equipment - where the part is small but the consequence of it being wrong is not.
